After almost two years affliction from a stroke of paralysis during which time he was almost totally helpless, Joseph Schlosser passed away at his home Saturday night.  On Sunday before he had suffered a total paralysis of the left side and passed into unconsciousness from which he never rallied.  Joseph Schlosser was born June 24, 1837, 7 miles south of Meins, Germany, and came to America in 1854 when a mere lad. Two years after coming to this country he came to Waynetown and has since made this place his home. In his earlier years he followed the avocation of a horse buyer and trader. Particularly during the Civil War and for several years following he was successful in buying and shipping horses from this section of the state.  “Joe” Schlosser as we have known him all our life, was a man of great physical strength, a hard worker and devoted to his home and family.  He was married to Fannie Richer at North Grove, Indiana Dec 27, 1872 and to his union eight children were born, all of whom survive except one daughter, Susie, who died in April this year.  Those surviving are: Ike who lives with his family at Shirley, Ind; Arthur of Hillsboro; Lee and Angus of this place, Katie of Muncie, Sadie of Fowler and Elsie of Indianapolis. Eight grandchildren also survive. A short funeral services was held at the home Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the family lot at the Masonic Cemetery west of town. -  kbz

Waynetown Dec 8 - Joseph Schlosser, a resident of this place died Saturday morning at 10 o'clock after two years of sickness.  The deceased was born June 24, 1837 in Darmstadt, Germany and came to this country at the early age of 16.  His first residence was Barboo, Wis but he came to Lafayette Ind a year after his arrival in America. Miss Fannie Richer was married to him in 1872.  It was after this that he came to Waynetown to live.  He was a member of the Orthodox Jewish Church and the IOOF.  He is survived by Katie Halm of Muncie; Ike Schlosser of Shirley; Arthur Schlosser of Hillsboro, Angus Schlosser of Waynetown; Sadie Smith of Fowler and Elsie Peters of Indianapolis. - kbz
